The European Sealing Association e.V. (ESA) was established in 1992, and is registered in Neu-Ulm (Deutschland) as a non-profit making trade association. Member Companies are involved in the manufacture, supply and use of sealing materials, crucial components in the safe containment of fluids during processing and use. The ESA has more than 40 Member Companies, representing over 85% of the fluid sealing industry in Europe.
The ESA has been established to work towards:
harmonisation of appropriate standards
harmonisation of appropriate legislation
development of sealing technology
environmental protection

Much of today's industrial technology relies heavily on being able to function safely at the extremes of pressure and temperature, often associated with high speed and vibration. This represents the everyday performance envelope for modern sealing materials, which ensure the safe containment of fluids, reliably and over an extended time frame. Consequently, sealing materials play a fundamental role in assisting mankind to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Sealing materials are employed in a wide cross-section of business,
including:
mineral
extraction industry
chemical and petrochemical industries
power generation and supply industries
automotive industries
aerospace industries
marine industries
potable and waste water industries
valve, pump and fluid hydraulics industries
The ESA is a market-led organisation, committed to better servicing its customers and their needs. The Association operates in an entirely democratic fashion, the Executive Committee submits appropriate recommendations as required, with decisions for action then agreed by voting of the membership at the General Meetings.
It is the clear intention of the ESA to maintain high standards in all of its operations, and to encourage all Members to be so bound, monitored when necessary by a Membership Standards Committee.
