To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day (23 June), *World Pumps* magazine published a feature highlighting the voices of female engineers in the pump and sealing industries. Among those interviewed was Francesca Torriani, Chair of the ESA’s Flange Gaskets Division and a senior engineer and quality manager at General Packing Italy.

In the article titled *Engineering Equality*, Francesca shares her experience in the field and encourages more young women to pursue engineering. “*It’s a field that presents many challenges but also offers tremendous satisfaction,” *she says. “*You get to collaborate with diverse teams and contribute to impactful projects across various sectors*.”

Importantly, Francesca also points to the need for systemic solutions – equal pay, access to childcare, flexible working hours – as a foundation for greater gender inclusion in the profession. As she puts it: “*We shouldn’t fear change. We should embrace it as an opportunity for growth and inclusiveness*.”
