Flange Gaskets Division
The ESA Flange Gasket Division has a membership of over thirty influential organisations involved in the industrial gasket industry, including raw material suppliers, research organisations and all of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of gaskets in Europe.
The Flange Gaskets Division provides a technical platform for manufacturers, material experts and engineers to address the design, qualification, selection and application of flange gasket solutions in accordance with European and international regulations.
The division actively supports the development and application of standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to gasketed joints, including ISO standards and the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
Particular emphasis is placed on fugitive emissions control, sealing performance under defined load conditions, and the reproducibility of test methods used to qualify gasket materials and flange assemblies. Flange Gaskets Division members produced a database of gasket parameters in accordance with EN 13555 for gasket materials available in the European market.
In response to increasing regulatory scrutiny and environmental objectives, the ESA Flange Gaskets Division promotes engineering-based approaches to emissions reduction, reliability and lifecycle performance. Its work contributes to improved understanding of gasket behaviour, installation practices and joint integrity management, supporting compliance with current and emerging sustainability goals while maintaining safe and efficient plant operation.
Through technical publications, guidance documents and cooperation with standardisation bodies, regulators and end users, the division provides authoritative reference information for engineers responsible for the specification and management of gasketed flange joints in modern industrial service.
