We’re pleased to welcome DLR Elastomer Engineering, a UK-based manufacturer of rubber products serving a wide range of industrial sectors worldwide, as a new member of the European Sealing Association. Below is a closer look at their story and what they do.

DLR Elastomer Engineering is a manufacturer of rubber products, supplying a wide range of industrial sectors globally from their base in Leyland, England. It was formed through the merger of Dexine Rubber, Leyland and Birmingham Rubber and also Elastomer Engineering and can trace its origins as far back as 1895.

With an extensive development and test laboratory, DLR Elastomer Engineering develops rubber compounds and also converts them into moulded product, cured and uncured sheet, fabricated product alongside polyurethane moulding and casting.

DLR’s 100,000 sqft manufacturing site houses in excess of 40 moulding presses ranging from 300mm x 300mm platen size up to 3500mm x 1800mm, providing an unrivalled moulding capability.

Alongside the moulding presses, a bank of continuous moulding presses provides the capability of manufacturing complex profiles with a multi-layered structure. A capability simply not achievable using extrusion techniques.

High-quality rubber gasket sheet is manufactured on 2 rubber sheet manufacturing lines, each containing cold continuous calendaring and continuous rotary curing.

A wide selection of fabrication benches and a large autoclave provide a flexible fabrication cell capable of producing parts up to 3000mm x 1500mm x 1500mm.

Polyurethane products are open cast or close die moulded for a wide range of applications, ranging from gasket sheet to seals and anti-abrasion products.

DLR Elastomer Engineering supplies most industrial sectors, including defence, aerospace, oil & gas, chemical processing, food, pharmaceutical, drinking water and utilities, automotive, mining, quarrying and recycling, meeting technically demanding requirements along with achieving the high standards of quality and compliance required to operate in these highly regulated industries.
