Draft 4 of the Packing Standard PD 002 to replace and update the obsolete British Standard BS4371 was reviewed at length at a Technical Task Force meeting on 12th March attended by several member companies including colleagues from the FSA by video conference. A number of amendments and additions were agreed along with a request for each member to advise the key quality aspects of each of the packing types and tests to measure them.

Development of the Training Package continues with content of the Materials section completed. However, it has been confirmed that placing a PowerPoint version on the web-site is not a practical solution so an alternative method of delivery, probably utilising proprietary Learning Management Systems (LMS) software will be required. This will probably require some revision of the content and will almost certainly involve costs.

Revision of the Technical Manual to issue 4 is nearing completion with final editing almost complete prior to release to all FSA and ESA Packing Division members for approval.

An article entitled ‘Qualifying  Quarter-Turn Valves for Low Emissions Service’ comparing ISO 15848-1 and API 641 and adapted from an FSA article was published in the May issue of Valve World.
