No Rewrite of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) Underway

We are keeping close watch on progress of the revisions on PED as a revision to the PED was reported to be planned.

I contacted Edward Crick, HM Inspector of Health and Safety – Safety Unit. He is adamant that there is no re-write of PED under way. He guesses that it would be 2022 before this is likely. He advised that Germany and the Netherlands were pushing for some changes to some Technical Notes aligned to PED, which might be where we picked up a re-write is underway.

Edvard Crick confirmed that no new committee has been set up for a re-write, and that he will ensure ESA members are informed as and when this happens.
